dia daoibh, so ive decided to take up French again and im trying to mix it in with my Irish learning, so in the spirit i wanted to make a verb list but im having trouble with some, heres what i have so far

admirer (admire) - meas
aider (help) - canhraigh
aimer (like/love)
ajouter (add)
apporter (bring/take) - tóg
arriver (arrive) - sroich
brûler (burn) - dóigh
chanter (sing) - can
compter (count) - ríomh/áirigh
couper (cut) - gearr
coûter (to cost)
danser (dance) -
déjeuner (to lunch)
demander (to ask) - fiafraigh
demeurer (to stay) - fan

so i was wondering if anyone had any better suggestins for the ones i already have or suggestions for the ones im missing, also i was thinking in different languages some things obviously arent said the same way, so would you actually use the verb fiafraigh to say i asked? or is it not something along the lines of chuir mé cesit.... same idea for meas?

anyway any help would be great, maith agaibh

Some of them will be phrasal and some will depend on the context.

I'd say"comhair/comhairaigh ??" for "count". Not that the ones you have are wrong.

I'd rather say "rud éigin a thabhairt leat"



sroich is rather "atteindre".



I don't think ríomh is common (I had to check my dictionary to verify it does exist... never heard not read it before)

yes but they aren't used the same way
rud éigin a fhiafraí de dhuine = demander qch (une question) à qn, when you say what is the question.
Ceist a chur ar dhuine = poser une question.

Typical. When I was first learning Irish at Oideas Gael years ago, I got the strong impression from the teachers that nothing you can say in Irish is ever really wrong. Just a different dialect.
