Just to point out you have singular in the first clause and plural in the second.

What Bríd has given you is Connemara Irish, though I would write it as sa gciúnas and sa ndorchadas, myself.

In standard, these would be sa chiúnas and sa dorchadas, respectively, and thú would probably just be tú.

I am very foreign to irish gaelic but my grandmother died a couple years ago and this is my real reason I want the tattoo to be in gaelic because she spoke it very well and wanted to teach me it one day when i grew up. But sadly that day is not going to happen so to answer your question if i have any preference for dialect I really dont know if I do or not haha. Just simply want it to read that because my brothers are very important to me and so is my granny so its a tribute to both of them.

What exactly is Connemara Irish?

Also anyone else reading this can you confirm Bríd's translation? Just really want to make sure it is correct.

I have tried to think of a way to shorten this but you can write it with a couple of letters less:
Cloiseann deartháir sa gciúnas thú, agus feiceann sé fiú sa dorchadas thú.

...perhaps someone can come up with a way to hold the meaning without having to hold the needle too long...
...other than that I'd vote with Bríd...

it's one of the dialects of Irish, which is spoken in Connemara ie. in the area in western Ireland, between Galway city and the ocean, roughly.



In Donegal Irish:

or:

Deartháir, sin duine a chluinfeadh ins an chiúnas thú, agus a tchífeadh ins an dorchadas féin thú.
