Actually, the answer to that one is indeterminate because the answer "only one" is based on the false assumption that you can't meet people travelling in the same direction as you. The correct answer is "insufficient data provided."

Well I think in the spoken English of the time - met - would certainly have meant having them coming towards you, not forgetting that this rhyme is often illustrated to show that and of course the whole idea is catch your listener out. And it works - nearly every time I tell it in French, they immediately start calculating. Saint Yves (Erwan) is the patron saint of Brittany.
